Not all wounds move through the healing process as expected. In non-healing wounds, progression stalls and standard of care treatments fail due to a number of factors. The Mist Therapy System produces a low energy ultrasound-generated mist that promotes wound healing through wound cleansing and maintenance debridement by the removal of tissue drainage and bacteria. Mist therapy is a painless procedure that is ordered by a physician usually three times per week.

The Wound-Ostomy-Continence Clinic at Clarinda Regional Health Center (CRHC) treats, assesses and makes recommendations involving difficult to treat Wounds, Ostomy care, and Continence issues. Assessments and referrals for Wound Care Services are typically made through a primary, specialized, or surgical physician to the wound clinic. However, feel free to reach out to us if you have questions on whether or not we can assist you with your needs. Please ensure that your primary care physician contacts us with necessary medical records.
Wounds
Most wounds heal without problems. Proper cleaning and bandaging usually yields a good result. However, occasionally wounds get “stuck” and fail to respond to care. Certain factors can delay healing such as medications, nutrition, and disease like diabetes. By assessing all of these factors proper treatment can be implemented. At the Wound-Ostomy-Continence Clinic you can expect accurate assessments, recommendations and timely treatment to assist wound healing.
Ostomy
An ostomy involves part of the bowel or urinary system being brought to the abdomen and diverted into a “bag”. Many times disease or cancer necessitate an ostomy. Patients can endure a difficult time accepting the procedure and learning how to care for the ostomy itself. By selecting the appropriate appliances and learning proper techniques in care, the transition can be improved. Continence Care
Many people accept losing control of bowel or bladder as a normal part of aging. That does not always have to be the case. Many new options are available to address these issues at the clinic.
