Jon graduated with a bachelor’s degree in emergency medical services from Creighton University in 2009 and graduated with high distinction from the Union College PA Program in 2016. After graduation, he worked in outpatient internal medicine and urgent care for two with Baylor Scott & White in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. In 2018, he moved to Omaha to be closer to family and accepted a fulltime faculty position with the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) PA Program. At the same time, he began working clinically in emergency department at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA.
In 2022, Jon accepted a fulltime position as assistant professor with the Yale School of Medicine PA Online Program while he continued to practice clinically at Jennie Edmundson. In January 2024 he transitioned to fulltime clinical practice with Jennie Edmundson ED and began working on a casual basis for Clarinda Regional Health Center Emergency Department.
Originally from Moville, Iowa, Jon began his career in medicine during high school, serving as a volunteer EMT with his hometown ambulance service starting in 2003. He previously worked as a paramedic at two northwest Iowa critical access hospitals and 911 services.
Jon is the Chief Nebraska Delegate with the American Academy of PA’s (AAPA) House of Delegates and serves as the co-chair of the Nebraska Academy of PAs Scholarship Committee. He was appointed by the governor to be the PA representative on the Nebraska Board of EMS, serves on the Creighton University EMS Education Advisory Board, and continues to work as an adjunct assistant professor with the UNMC PA Program and adjunct contract faculty for the Yale PA Online Program.
