Clarinda, IA | (May 10, 2018) Clarinda Regional Health Center (CRHC) Nurse Colleen Spinlerhas been named the 2018 DAISY Award recipient for providing extraordinary nursing care. The DAISY Award is sponsored by The DAISY Foundation, a national charitable foundation established to recognize “extraordinary nurses” for the compassionate care they deliver every day.
DAISY Award recipients are chosen based on written nominations submitted by patients, families, and other healthcare providers. Spinler, who serves as CRHC’s Emergency Room Clinical Analyst has been working at CRHC since 1989. A co-worker nominated Spinler for this year’s award and said, “I have had the pleasure of working with Colleen for 14 years at Clarinda Regionnal Health Center. For me, Colleen has been a staple of CRHC and I am not sure what I will do without her when she retires in June.”
Spinler was hired right out of college as an LPN. CRHC Chief Nursing Officer Sherrie Laubenthal said, “I am very pleased that Colleen was the recipient of this year’s DAISY Award.” CRHC Med/Surge ER Manager Renee Naumann added, “The DAISY Award is a fantastic way to both locally and nationally recognize nurses for providing superior patient care. The DAISY Award was developed after the Barnes family was amazed by the care and compassion they received through their experience of losing a family member. We have fantastic nurses at CRHC that exemplify the DAISY Award every day.”
CRHC has been participating in this national nursing recognition program since 2012. Spinler and each CRHC DAISY Award recipient receive a special lapel pin, a certificate, and a “Healer’s Touch” sculpture. Previous CRHC recipients include Effie Martinez, Lara Nothwehr, Shirley Long, Kathey Burwell, Julie Madison and Karie Martin.
