The Clarinda Regional Health Center (CRHC) physician’s clinic (Clarinda Medical Associates) offers a service for its patients on anticoagulation medications. The CRHC “Coumadin Clinic” is established to monitor and manage the medications taken to prevent blood clots.
Patients benefit from this standardized care and the immediate feedback of INR results. The goal of the clinic is to maximize the benefits of patients warfarin (Coumadin) therapy, yet avoid adverse effects. A second goal is to better communicate dosage instructions and follow-up orders more efficiently, effectively and safely. Educational services about anticoagulation, possible interactions, and possible complications and side effects will also be provided.
What’s this mean for the current Coumadin patients?
- Your check-in procedure in CRHC’s lobby and your INR test procedure will not change.
- Upon completion of your INR test, you will now be provided a take-home report stating your INR result, your written dosage schedule and the due date of your next INR test.
