Donald M. Gammel, MD, FAADEP, CIME

Dr. Gammel received a Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and completed a general medical surgical internship in 1968. Dr. Gammel served in Vietnam as squadron surgeon and earned the Bronze Star. He then served as the Chief of General Medical Clinics at Fort Huachuca in Arizona. Dr. Gammel returned to the Midwest in 1970 and entered private practice for 21 years practicing family medicine, including obstetrics, and general surgery.
In 1991, he became the Medical Director of Occupational Medicine at Alegent HealthImmanuel Medical Center. From 1993 to 2000, he was Section Chief of Occupational Medicine at St. Joseph Hospital and in 1999 was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at Creighton University School of Medicine. Dr. Gammel also served as the Medical Director of Occupational Medicine for Concentra Medical Centers in Omaha, and since 1991 he has owned and been the President of Disability Evaluation Services, now WorkFit, Inc.
Dr. Gammel is a certified Fellow and member of both the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians and the American Board of Independent Medical Evaluators. He serves as an Independent Medical Examiner for the Nebraska Workers’ Compensation Court. Dr. Gammel’s areas of expertise include occupational medicine, independent medical examinations, disability evaluations and impairment ratings.
